OCTOBER 26TH MEETING:

The Un-Civil War of
Frank and Jesse James

While many people are familiar with the post-war exploits of the infamous James brothers, few know about their activities on the Kansas-Missouri border during America's Civil War.

This presentation will shed some light on the wartime career of Frank and Jesse as they rode with the likes of William Quantrill and Bloody Bill Anderson and participated in the bloody episodes at Lawrence, Kansas and Centralia, Missouri.

Our speaker this month is Paul Gillette. Paul is a founding member of the Civil War Round Table of Orange County and a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. During his time as Preservation Officer for the Orange County CWRT, he oversaw the fundraising and donation of thousands of dollars for battlefield preservation causes. He is co-author of "The Civil War Legacy of Santa Ana," and has been researching the Civil War veterans of Orange County since 1993. Mr. Gillette is a veteran of the U. S. Navy and has been employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 16 years.

Please join us as we learn more about Frank and Jesse's exploits during the Civil War.
